Parts arrives for the Kenwood KA-8006 today and it was right to work. I haven’t revealed the shiny face and controls yet but they have to come off. The amp disassembles very easily and the entire front panel with control boards sort of folds down for better access to the power supply. The plan is to work the power supply and amp boards, test, and then complete the project with the tone controls and EQ. Removing the outputs and heat sinks made for very good access to the amp boards on both sides. The outputs were tested and they are all good and actually still well matched. They will eventually be reinstalled with new thermal grease after the amp board work is complete. Here is a few shots of the amp in the disassembly. Once the amp was broken down I decided to go ahead and change electrolytics on the amp board. Before and after shots of the boards.
