It’s been a little while and a short vacation since posting work. There’s a lot of pics to show of work and I will try to post some in the next few days. Next up ready for its new parts is a Pioneer SX-838 that will be restored and sent back to its owner who purchased the receiver in the mid 70’s. I like to do this work in a few steps with testing in between. First up is the power supply, EQ, and protection circuits. Last in this receiver there was decades of dust which the majority was cleaned up this evening. Power supply and protection will get Nichicon PW series electrolytics, EQ will get Nichicon KL series, and any Mylar or low capacitance electrolytics will be replaced with Panasonic ECQ series film caps. Here are some before pics of the three boards all cleaned up.
