This receiver when arrived to us was in good cosmetic condition but was not functional. It was decided to give the unit a fairly complete restoration to make the receiver not only good looking but also great sounding and reliable. Some details of work that was done.
-Original power caps removed and replaced with premium KW series Nichicon capacitors. These were mounted underneath the chassis as they are significantly smaller than the originals.
-Power supply and EQ boards were restored using premium Nichicon electrolytics, and Fairchild transistors.
-Main amplifier board was completely restored using premium Nichicon electrolytics, Fairchild transistors, and new set of genuine ON Semiconductor TO3 output transistors.
-Receiver was slowly powered up on variac to break in new capacitors. Once fully powered up and warm bias adjusted to factory specifications.
-Unit was bench tested under 8 ohm load and found to exceed original factory power specifications.
-All input sources tested and FM appears to be well aligned.
There are a few war wounds on the case of this unit but acceptable for its age. There is a few very light minor marks on the steel top of the face plate and one small scratch next to the headphone jack as pointed out in photos. Overall the faceplate is a 9/10 and the case 8/10.
