Last left off this board was stripped almost completely of components. Now it’s complete again loaded with Fairchild semiconductors and Nichicon PW series capacitors. Most resistors were changed, along with new diodes, Zener diodes, mica washers, and thermal paste. Next step will be when the receiver arrives this week this board will be transplanted in place of the broken board. Here’s a few shots of the board complete.

        1. Hey Matt, q1+q7 which are the 2SD313 from the factory were replaced with Fairchild KSC2073TU. Q4 2SB507 was also changed to Fairchild KSA940TU.

          It’s such a shame to remove the board you had done since it looks so perfect. Shipping can be brutal on these extra heavy receivers. Looking forward to opening the unit today and seeing the rest of your work.

          1. Those are good replacements, but I would recommend changing them to MJE15033G for the 313’s and a MJE15032G for the 507 for longevity, they have much higher ratings and can withstand the heat a lot better.

          2. I feel Fairchild vs ON is a back and forth battle. I usually go ON in amp sections and TO3’s. The cases on the 2073 are a bit bigger and make more contact with the heat sink which I always felt dissipated heat more efficiently.

            90% of my Japanese subs are from MTF lists which have never steered me wrong. It is like the telefunken vs RCA debates in valves.
